About the role

RISE provides services for people with disabilities in our Residential settings. Our mission is to create opportunities for and with people. This position is for Direct Support Professional Drivers who are passionate about working with individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting people with transportation, mobility, daily living, hygiene, meal prep, and behavioral supports.

Demonstrate respect and promote choice. Promote the rights of people receiving support and contribute to an environment that is free of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation. Support people in achieving outcomes identified in the person’s plan, including keeping required documentation and any other prescribed or related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete RISE designated driver’s safety training and be familiar with RISE transportation policy.
  • Provide transportation at any time while working, including driving while on shift.
  • Act as an appropriate role model and support people in using appropriate language, dress, table manners, respect, and other behavior as needed.
  • Ensure that clean and safe environments are maintained.
  • Quickly and effectively respond to emergency situations such as fire, application of First Aid, CPR, approved medical protocols, behavior intervention, etc.
  • Follow RISE personnel practices and policies, including:
    • Reporting to work on time as scheduled.
    • Refraining from excessive absenteeism.
    • Obtaining prior approval by following established procedures when time off is desired, including reporting to supervisor (per RISE policy) for absence from work.
    • Working all hours as scheduled.
    • Attending staff meetings and other mandatory training as required by RISE.
  • Follow all RISE and State policies and procedures.
  • Maintain necessary records, logs, and other documentation as required per ISPP, RISE policy, and State requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Obtain a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for vehicle fuel cards.
  • Must be over twenty-one (21) years of age to drive a RISE vehicle and meet other requirements as specified by the RISE Insurance Agency.
  • Must have a current and clear Arizona State Driver’s license.
  • Supply RISE with a current motor vehicle record for the past three years from the AZ Motor Vehicle Division or from Navajo Nation Driving Record if employed within Navajo Nation.
  • Satisfactory background check and obtain Level One Fingerprint Card clearance.
  • Must have verbal and written communication skills adequate to the specific job.
  • Reliable transportation to the work site and access to a telephone.

Qualifications

  • Experience and education in the field of developmental disabilities or related field preferred.
  • Must have a desire and interest in working with people with disabilities or special needs.
  • Specific language abilities (other than English) may be required to meet the needs of people/families receiving support, and demonstrate a knowledge of and respect for cultural differences.
