DSD Relief Route Sales

About the role

The Relief Route Sales Representative plays a crucial role in selling and merchandising quality products at local stores. This position involves driving a Smithfield Foods box truck and performing various duties including quotes prices, preparing sales invoices, delivering products, stocking retail cases, rotating inventory, and maintaining daily reports.

Responsibilities

• Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales invoices for orders obtained
• Delivers products to customers, stocks retail cases, and rotates inventory as required
• Prepares end of day reports of business transactions and informs local management on any unresolved issues or opportunities
• Maintains daily Department of Transportation records and provides to local management as required
• Maintains daily truck inventory and does weekly physical inventory and reports any variations to local management
• Driving to assigned locations
• Using equipment (e.g. carts, pallets, etc.) to unload products and move throughout the store
• Rotating products and removing defective and out-of-date products and processing returns and credits with the receiver

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of 6 months experience in route sales, grocery, warehousing, or delivery
• A valid Driver's License required, and a valid CDL-B Driver’s License will be required within 90 days of start date
• Must be 21 years of age
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to be respectful, approachable, and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment

Qualifications

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Physically demanding work requiring the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups
• Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs, or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance
