About the Role

Reporting directly to the Barge, Bulk & Drumming Manager, the Drumming Operator I is responsible for packaging, loading, and unloading material within a warehouse or storage facility using drums and totes.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all customers, regulatory, and quality requirements in the performance of all tasks as set forth in the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and organized.
  • Package various chemicals into drums and totes following instructions.
  • Operate various process equipment including pumps, agitators, valves, and steam heating systems.
  • Produce Star glycerin from a mixture of glycerin and water.
  • Load and unload trucks as needed.
  • Unload empty drums from trailers.
  • Operate drum fill machines.
  • Shrink wrap and palletize drums.
  • Use a handheld scanner to scan pallet license plates to locations for put away.
  • Verify and double-check final product packaged weight to ensure it meets customer expectations.
  • Inspect and label drums, ensure proper closure, and store drums according to accepted standards.
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health, Safety, Security Requirements covered under Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Follow all RC14001 guiding principles, policies, procedures, and other requirements.
  • Maintain Hazardous waste in accordance with all Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, legal, and environmentally protective operation.
  • Listen to customers, suppliers, and employees, and respond quickly to customer concerns.
  • Follow set guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and food safety requirements.
  • Maintain training on applicable procedures in quality, GMP, and food safety.
  • Report any food safety, security, and/or quality issues to management or the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) team.
  • Provide flexible and innovative strategies to support new business opportunities.
  • Be cost-effective in the utilization of resources to contribute to profitability.
  • Strive for continued improvement.
  • Other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Position-specific vocational education, training, or certification preferred.
  • Sit-down forklift certification required; in-house certification will be provided prior to start.
  • Minimum 6 months stand-up forklift experience required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing hand trucks, hoists, conveyors, pumps, or other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and tanks preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in extreme climates (high/low).
  • Able to walk upstairs, climb ladders, and walk long distances.
  • Able to independently lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis during shift.
  • Able to push/pull up to 540 lbs on a roller conveyor.
  • Ability to stand in one place for multiple hours at a time.

The company will follow its written training program for this position.
