Drum Reconditioner

About the Role

Drum Reconditioners are responsible for safely loading, unloading, and processing empty, new, or reconditioned drums in a chemical manufacturing environment. This position includes general labor and warehouse tasks while demonstrating a proper understanding of safety measures.

The work environment is a chemical manufacturing setting inside and outside of metal buildings. Employees will work in temperature extremes and in an environment with chemical odors. Depending on the exact position, tasks may include operating a forklift, tipping and moving 55-gallon drums weighing up to 600 pounds with a drum dolly, and lifting and carrying 50 pounds in various packaging.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations at all times.
• Identify and sort incoming materials for processing.
• Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks by hand or using equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, or fork trucks.
• Organize or track locations of items in the warehouse.
• Properly inspect, segregate, and consolidate all incoming or outgoing shipments.
• Sort materials for refuse, reuse, or recycling.
• Safely clean empty chemical drums according to EAP guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

• Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, including navigating a web browser, following online instructions, typing, and using a mouse.

• Physical Abilities: Lift and carry 50 pounds in various packaging. Tip and move 55-gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds, with the use of a drum dolly.
