Responsibilities
The classification level is responsible for arranging, conducting, and maintaining documentation for drug screenings. Responsibilities may include:
- collecting, disposing, and maintaining records of urine specimens;
- conducting drug screenings;
- maintaining the inventory of testing supplies and equipment;
- testifying in court;
- reporting and documenting testing results;
- ensuring documentation procedures are done in accordance with policies and procedures;
- providing training on testing result documentation.

Salary
The Drug Technician's salary range is $31,474.16 - $38,348.14. After probation period is completed, the Permanent wage will increase at least 2.5%. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.
Job Duties
Greets clients, collects testing forms and accompanies to drug testing area.
Conduct drug screening in accordance with established systems and procedures using approved testing methodologies. This includes obtaining urine specimen from Probationers, recording, and reporting results.
Stores testing samples in secure location and ensures chain of custody procedures are observed at all times.
Maintains drug testing supplies and equipment inventory.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior substance abuse or chemical testing training and working with the offender population.

$31,474.16 per year
Work Location & Hours
This position will cover Beatrice primarily but will assist in other counties in the district including but not limited to Jefferson, Saline, Johnson, and Pawnee. This is an early morning position with testing starting at 5am, so the candidates will need to be in their testing location around 430am.

Physical Requirements
- Incumbents may be subjected to fumes, odors, poor ventilation, hazardous materials (chemicals, blood, and other body fluids, etc.), and challenging environmental conditions, imminent danger.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Requires use of arm and/or leg controls and exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work.
