ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Collect, analyze, and report Wyoming emergency department syndromic overdose data and emergency department discharge data at grant-required frequencies (typically monthly).
• Produce and disseminate data products related to emergency department overdose data at a frequency meeting, at a minimum, grant requirements.
• Communicate with internal and external partners and the public regarding emergency department overdose data.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to improve the quality of emergency department overdose data.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to apply data to inform prevention efforts.
• Provide technical data and evaluation support to internal and external partners on overdose prevention initiatives and inform evidence-based strategy adjustments.
• Attend training related to job duties both in Wyoming and other states.
• Participate in the division’s response to public health events as needed.

Qualifications

• PREFERENCES: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in public health epidemiology and a Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, or a closely related field.
• KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of epidemiologic surveillance; Ability to carry out epidemiologic and statistical analysis; Ability to use results of analyses to help formulate prevention and control decisions; Ability to use software to conduct epidemiologic analyses; Ability to communicate data to a variety of audiences, including through written, oral, and website communication; Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address epidemiologic problems.

• PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
