Position Location

This position is located onsite in Palmer, Alaska.

Job Overview

Ensures compliance with the zero-tolerance policy and provides structured activities and counseling to promote a drug-free lifestyle for youth. Educates and trains youth at risk of using alcohol. Promotes awareness of TEAP (Treatment Education and Prevention Program) to create a drug/alcohol-free environment.

Pay

$55,000.00/year

Benefits

  • Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year, actual days based upon Service Date

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain a respectful environment for staff and students.
  • Promote student achievement through mentorship and intervention.
  • Provide referrals for students with drug or alcohol-related issues.
  • Follow HIPAA requirements and conduct urine collection procedures.
  • Conduct interviews and assessments for new referrals.
  • Provide weekly individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Maintain a library of educational materials.
  • Stay updated on professional developments and community resources.
  • Coordinate TEAP program activities and integrate with other Center programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement TEAP program to support student abstinence from alcohol and drugs.
  • Encourage awareness of TEAP issues within the Center.
  • Prepare and deliver TEAP orientation presentations.
  • Create a coordinated approach to alcohol and drug abuse prevention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
  • A chemical dependency certification from the state where employment is located.
  • One (1) year of related experience and/or training in substance abuse field.
  • Pass background check and drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
