About the role
The Position: Located in Honesdale, PA, Wayne County Drug & Alcohol is seeking a full-time Prevention Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement evidence based prevention programs in school and community settings
- Represent the agency on committees and collaborative groups to support prevention initiatives
- Develop and deliver training, lessons, and intervention services based on identified needs
- Prepare and distribute educational materials, lesson plans, and program resources for various audiences
- Maintain documentation and complete timely data entry into the prevention management system
- Provide consultation, screenings, interventions, and support groups as part of Student Assistance Program responsibilities
Requirements
- One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee; or
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Qualifications
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- You must submit and approve satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
