About the role

The US DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory seeks proposals for innovative concepts in the distribution and transfer of propulsive power in Army vehicles such as helicopters, ground vehicles, and unconventional or unmanned small aircraft. Proposals are also desired for hybrid drivetrains, lightweight electric machines, and other approaches that reduce mechanical interfaces for aircraft in power classes and configurations where commercial technology does not currently exist.

About MECHANICAL SCIENCES (MS)

Focuses on the science of novel mechanics, mechanisms, and control to enable manned/unmanned ground and air vehicle concepts.

Research Proposal Submission

  • Have a clear objective with a defined outcome
  • Outline the direction of the research
  • Indicate the expected period for completing the study
  • Include a brief background and motivation for the research
  • Refer to published efforts to enhance the proposal

  • Education: Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree
  • Academic Level(s): Master’s Degree (Journeyman Fellow) or Doctoral Degree (Postdoctoral Fellow)
