Summary
The regional Truck Driver safely and efficiently completed regional deliveries with care, professionalism, and precision.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more.
- Backs trailers to customer dock.
- Maintains compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
- Communicates with customer representatives in pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
- Communicates and coordinates with dispatchers.
- Complies with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing).
- Secures cargo and properly arranges and balances it within the vehicle.
- Ensures that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
- Swings and secures trailer doors.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid CDL A License required
- Minimum 2 years of CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years (3+ years preferred)
- Must meet DOT qualification requirements (FMCSR 391.41)
- No positive drug or alcohol test results in the past five (5) yrs.
- No accident involving bodily injury within the last three (3) yrs.
- Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred
- Strong understanding of load securement and freight handling
- Able to navigate efficiently using GPS and route planning tools
- Demonstrated customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments
- Experience handling high-value or sensitive freight preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- TWIC card (or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required)
- Hazmat endorsement required
Physical Demands
- Sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle
- Use hands and fingers to operate steering wheel, controls, GPS, and electronic logging devices
- Frequently enter and exit the cab (4–6 feet) multiple times per shift
- Lift, carry, push, and pull freight ranging from 1–125 pounds (team lift or equipment-assisted when required)
- Lift up to 50 pounds independently
- Frequently reach at or above shoulder height, at waist level, and below waist level
- Bend, twist, squat, kneel, and crouch during loading/unloading and inspections
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer
- Hook/unhook trailers, operate landing gear, fifth wheel release, and related equipment
- Walk and stand for portions of the shift on surfaces such as concrete, metal, or dock plates, which may be uneven, wet, or slippery
- Operate foot pedals and manual transmission (if applicable)
