Driver, Union - Tractor Trailer

About the role

Primary duty of the position is the safe and courteous loading, unloading, and delivery of equipment to customer sites within Michigan and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks on trucks and equipment.
• Report to dispatch for delivery and pick-up assignments.
• Courteously deliver equipment to customer sites.
• Deliver and pick up equipment in a safe and timely manner.
• Check equipment fuel, fluid levels, and proper operations before loading.
• Complete rental contracts, pickup tickets, and damage tickets legibly and ensure they are signed by the proper person(s).
• Demonstrate the safe and correct operation of equipment at the time of delivery.
• Notify shop lead or service manager and rental coordinator of damaged equipment.
• Contact rental coordinator after each delivery.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment to present a clean and professional appearance.
• Store equipment and vehicles appropriately when not in use to prevent property damage.
• Complete special assignments or projects from the store manager in a timely manner.

Safety

• Maintain equipment to meet DOT inspection criteria.
• Follow DOT laws regarding the loading and hauling of equipment.
• Secure all unused chains and binders when not in use.
• Drive with lights on.
• Actively participate in safety meetings.
• Adhere to safety policies and rules.
• Avoid involvement in accidents caused by violations of defensive driving principles resulting in property damage over $100 per year.

Requirements

• High school education with some technical training.
• Class A CDL.
• Minimum 2 years of hauling experience driving a tractor-trailer vehicle.
• Familiarity with delivery areas and ability to read and understand maps of the city and surrounding areas (helpful).
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening.
• Product knowledge (a plus).
• Excellent customer service skills.

Pay

Hourly Rate: $32.71
