Driver, Union - Straight Truck / Rollback

About the Role

The primary duty of this position includes the safe and courteous loading, unloading, and delivery of equipment to customer sites within Michigan and surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks on trucks and equipment
• Report to dispatch for delivery/pick-up assignments
• Courteously deliver equipment to customer sites
• Deliver and pick up equipment in a safe and timely manner
• Check equipment fuel, fluid levels, and proper operations before loading
• Fill out rental contracts, pickup tickets, and damage tickets completely, legibly, and obtain proper signatures
• Demonstrate the safe and correct operation of equipment at the time of delivery
• Notify shop leadman, service manager, and rental coordinator of damaged equipment
• Contact rental coordinator after each delivery
• Maintain vehicle and equipment to present a clean and professional appearance
• Store equipment and vehicles appropriately when not in use to prevent property damage
• Complete special assignments or projects from the store manager in a timely manner

Safety Responsibilities

• Maintain equipment to meet DOT inspection criteria
• Follow DOT laws regarding the loading and hauling of equipment
• Secure all unused chains and binders when not in use
• Drive with lights on
• Actively participate in safety meetings
• Adhere to safety policies and rules
• Avoid accidents caused by violations of defensive driving principles resulting in property damage over $100 per year

Qualifications

• High school education with some technical training
• Minimum of a Class B CDL required; Class A CDL preferred
• Minimum 2 years of hauling experience driving a vehicle while towing a trailer or experience driving a rollback/straight truck
• Familiarity with delivery areas and ability to read and understand maps
• Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
• Product knowledge is a plus
• Excellent customer service skills
• Clear driving record
