About the role
The Driver / Shop Technician is responsible for the safe transportation, maintenance, preparation, organization, and tracking of company tooling and equipment while providing hands-on support to shop, warehouse, field, and project operations.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport tools, equipment, materials, and personnel between company facilities, job sites, vendors, and other locations.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload tooling and equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and DOT requirements.
- Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles, trailers, tools, and shop equipment.
- Assist with the receipt, inspection, organization, storage, and distribution of tooling and equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure tools and equipment are properly identified, tracked, and returned after use.
- Prepare, clean, inspect, and organize tools and equipment for upcoming projects and field operations.
- Assist technicians and field personnel with tooling requirements, including staging, packaging, mobilization, and demobilization of equipment.
- Perform basic mechanical, fabrication, repair, maintenance, and shop duties as needed.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, or other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tooling shop, yard, warehouse, and vehicle areas.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, containers, and offshore/project equipment.
- Coordinate with operations, project teams, mechanics, and field personnel to ensure tooling is available when and where needed.
- Identify damaged, missing, or defective tools and equipment and report issues to management.
- Maintain required driving, vehicle, inspection, maintenance, and tooling documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support company operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in driving, equipment handling, or mechanical work.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in various environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills.
- Forklift certification or experience is a plus.
