What you will be doing: Responsible for providing drivers education instruction to students in accordance with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation approved curricula. Provides students with basic direction, in compliance with Department of Labor (DOL) and Management & Training Corporation (MTC) directives. Essential Functions Provide students with basic direction, instruction and assistance in theory and application of automobile driving skillsDemonstrates and explains handling of automobile in emergencies, driving techniques, and mechanical operation of automobileObserves individual’s driving habits and reactions under various driving conditions to ensure conformance with vehicle operational standards and state vehicle codeTeach motor vehicle regulations and insurance lawsReview and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reportsMotivate and counsel students in areas of behavior, training, personal problems or study habitsCoordinate with counselors and staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student trainingDevelop and prepare lessons; recommend curricula changes and supplemental materialsParticipate in evaluation of student progress (ESP); establish quality goals for students during each evaluation periodMaintain student accountability by documenting class attendance (class periods) daily. Administer and correct tests; maintain progress and attendance reportsControl use of equipment and supplies; submit work requests; recommend purchasesResponsible for curriculum and lesson plan development and updates necessary to link subject matter to employability skillsMaintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environmentRegular and predictable attendance is requiredProvide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customersEnsure students learn and practice set behavioral expectations that support employability and social development for career readiness successSupport, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance PolicyPromote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventionsMaintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices; attend all required training Education & Experience Must have a professional educator license endorsed for both the secondary grades and safety and driver educationHigh school diploma or equivalency requiredMust have held a valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license for the past (3) three yearsPossess good health and is free from impairments that would adversely affect the safety of pupils and general publicHas acceptable driving record Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
