About the Role
The Salvation Army, an international movement and evangelical part of the universal Christian church, seeks a part-time driver to provide safe transportation to youth and adults for programs and services of the Omaha North Corps. This role supports the mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs without discrimination.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of vehicles before and after pickup routes (e.g., locked doors, fuel levels, tire levels).
- Safely transport youth and adults to and from corps programs in a timely manner.
- Engage passengers in positive conversation during routes to support program goals.
- Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations; report discipline or behavioral issues to Corps Officers.
- Ensure passengers are safely inside their homes or under appropriate supervision before departing.
- Return the vehicle to the corps at the end of each route.
- Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games.
- Assist in preparing and serving snacks or meals to program participants.
- Support children’s emotional and social development by encouraging positive self-concepts and understanding of others.
- Provide assistance in program areas, including supervising children, monitoring audio/video needs, gym activities, Sunday School, light cleaning, crafts, and music programs.
- Assist with donation pick-ups as directed by Corps Officers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED (no prior experience required; on-the-job training provided).
- Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in accessing web-based systems for payroll, timekeeping, and personal data.
- Administrative skills, including use of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail, and filing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
- Must pass all applicable background checks.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license from your state of residence.
- Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
- Must complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional engagement in rigorous activities related to recreational programs with children.
- Limited physical effort required for walking, standing, lifting, and carrying objects.
Working Conditions
- May require working in outdoor weather conditions.

Pay
Starting pay rate: $15.00 per hour.
Schedule
Part-time, up to 29 hours per week.
