About the role

Responsible for safely transporting hazardous and non‑hazardous materials from customer sites to designated locations using various waste‑carrying equipment such as van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, and roll‑off frames. The role ensures compliance with DOT, EPA, state, and local regulations and maintains required transportation permits.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure safety and equipment integrity.
• Review shipment records, manifests, container labeling, vehicle placards, and loaded drums, roll‑off boxes, or bulk tankers before transport.
• Verify that DOT requirements (load weight limits, driver log books, inspection records, permits, insurance cards, fuel trip reports, IFTA stickers, etc.) are up to date and valid.
• Consult with customers regarding load conditions, drum counts, or paperwork inconsistencies.
• Notify supervisor of any moving violations or accidents occurring en route.
• Assist in loading and unloading materials at designated sites using appropriate equipment.
• Assist with housekeeping duties as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prior commercial driving experience required.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as required.
• Tankers and Hazmat (H) endorsement required.
• 40‑hour HAZWOPER training preferred.

• Familiarity with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for hazardous and non‑hazardous material transport.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effective time‑management and ability to organize multiple tasks.
• Strong customer‑service orientation.

Pay

• Sign‑on bonus: $5,000 paid in increments.
• Mile rate: $0.61–$0.66 per mile, experience‑based.
• Hourly pay for training, pre‑trip, post‑trip, fueling, and loading/unloading: $28.00–$32.00.
