About the role

The Driver/Maintenance Worker at CAMBA’s The Landing Family Shelter assists individuals and families requiring social service assistance. This position involves collaborating with clients to formulate independent living plans, identifying and documenting maintenance issues, and utilizing appropriate safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Aid individuals and/or families requiring social service assistance.
  • In collaboration with clients, interview and evaluate clients and formulate independent living plans.
  • Identify and document all maintenance issues on work order forms.
  • Immediately report maintenance equipment issues (i.e., inoperable, missing, etc.).
  • Utilize appropriate safety standards (i.e., wear safety goggles, masks, appropriate attire) and display safety signs when performing tasks.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, window blinds, and draperies.
  • Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, tubs, showers, shower fixtures, including walls, floors, curtains, stalls, and mirrors.
  • Replace light bulbs, light fixtures, light covers, electrical outlet covers and ballasts as needed.
  • Dust and/or wipe furniture, equipment, and ceiling fans.
  • Separe and transport trash, recyclables and waste to disposal area and consolidate for pickup.
  • Respond to and prepare for inclement weather (i.e., prepare sandbags, tie down loose outdoor items, remove snow and/or ice from the sidewalks, driveways and stairs, etc.).
  • Clean storm drains and gutters to ensure proper drainage.
  • Polish metalwork, including lighting fixtures.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies including toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap.
  • Wash walls, ceiling, woodwork, windows, sills and door panels, heating and cooling vents, and air conditioner filters.
  • Perform daily pre-trip vehicle inspection prior to the first trip of the day.
  • Immediately report vehicle and/or equipment that are inoperable, missing or improperly utilized.
  • Complete vehicle travel log for all trips.
  • Aid passengers needing assistance in order to enter and/or exit the vehicle.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and/or free of litter at all times.
  • May make minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • May escort clients to appointments.
  • Must be able to carry at least 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Must obtain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance, The Register of Substantiated Category One Cases of Abuse or Neglect aka Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance and Criminal history information checks via fingerprinting with New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services prior to start of employment.
  • Ability to maintain clearances throughout the duration of employment.
  • Required to become First Aid/CPR certified.
  • Required to become certified in overdose prevention.
  • Required to work some weekends and holidays.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

  • DOH Certified Food Handler.

Pay

$19.06 hourly
