Responsibilities
- Perform all pre-trip responsibilities to include checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries.
- Necessary vehicle safety inspections for vehicle.
- Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route.
- Ensure vehicle is properly secured during drop-offs.
- Load and unload products from vehicle using dolly or other appropriate devices safely.
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures confirming receipt of product.
- Contact management to discuss issues or concerns as they arise throughout the workday.
- Perform all post-delivery actions, including unloading damaged product, customer returns, and complete any necessary documents.
- Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations during the operation of the truck and handling of product.
- Maintain temperature-controlled vehicles to ensure product quality.
- Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and goodwill by providing professional assistance and demonstrating an interest in the customer's needs.
- Report any complaints to Supervisor.
- Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices.
- Ensure that payment (cash, checks, etc.) are properly secured.
- Supports the Fleet Manager by ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct.
Requirements
- Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience – 2- 3 years of commercial driving experience. Transportation of temperature-controlled product experience preferred.
- Customer Service – Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor.
- Work ethic – A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines with the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Licensing - Must have a valid Class A License.
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving; Regularly be able to lift up to 80 pounds; may occasionally need to lift over 80 pounds; Requires constant mental and visual attention, as well as ability to see well in limited light scenarios; Repetitive reaching, bending, and twisting; Repetitive pushing and pulling; Must be able to successfully pass a Medical Examiner’s Certification.
