About the Role
Provides transportation of patients to and from community re-entry programs, specialized tests/procedures, and outpatient services. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Delivers medications and supplies to patients.
- Plans daily route.
- Contacts patient or caregiver prior to delivery to arrange delivery time and verify location.
- Gathers and loads appropriate medications and supplies.
- Maintains contact with supervisor upon arrival and departure of each delivery.
- Arranges and packages medications and supply items for individual deliveries.
- Determines if delivery needs refrigeration and finds appropriate container for delivery of medications and supplies.
- Picks appropriate supply items for each delivery.
- Double checks for correctness of items and has the delivery verified by another Driver.
- Inspects vehicle prior to shift to ensure proper working order.
- Performs physical inspection of vehicle at beginning of shift to ensure safe and proper working order.
- Documents inspection on proper departmental form.
- Submits reports of any deficiencies to management of department for corrective action.
- Ensures routine maintenance of vehicle.
- Completes all paperwork included in the new patient packet.
- Completes all paperwork according to company guidelines.
- Ensures that all signatures required are received.
- Ensures that the Patient/Client understands all of the documents included within the packet.
- Communicates with Patients and Pharmacy.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skill while interacting with Patients and Pharmacy to determine location and any special needs.
- Completes all assigned goals.
Requirements
- Appropriate experience in customer service, driving, or delivering (direct customer service preferred).
- Knowledge, skills, and mental development equivalent to completion of 4 years of high school, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent oral communication skills and demonstrated people skills.
- Driver's license:
- TN: Class D with F endorsement
- MS: Class A, B, C, or D—any level must have P endorsement
