Trulee Evanston is seeking a dedicated PRN Time Driver to transport residents to shopping, appointments, and community events.
About the role
Join our team and make a real difference in seniors’ lives by providing safe, compassionate transportation. You’ll operate a passenger bus for daily and weekly routes, assist residents with mobility needs, and support community events.
Schedule
1-2 days per week
Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain a passenger bus for daily and weekly routes (shopping, medical appointments, community events, etc.).
- Assist residents on and off the bus using the wheelchair lift or steps, including handling oxygen tanks, walkers, and wheelchairs.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections (fuel, fluids, lights, brakes) and coordinate any needed repairs or servicing.
- Keep the bus clean inside and out—vacuum, wipe down surfaces, dispose of trash, and wash exterior as needed.
- Follow all safety and emergency procedures to ensure passenger protection.
- Engage warmly with residents, reporting any concerns about their health or well-being to management.
- Support special events (e.g., bingo) and run errands for the community as requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; at least one year of bus-driving experience.
- Prior work with older adults is a plus.
- Clean driving record and successful criminal background check (per Title 22 requirements).
- Ability to pass a health screening and perform physical tasks like lifting equipment.
Skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with genuine care for seniors and their families.
- Comfortable with large passenger vehicles, wheelchair lifts, and basic vehicle maintenance checks.
- Patient, courteous, and calm under pressure; strong integrity and teamwork spirit.
