About the role
The Driver is responsible for the appropriate, timely delivery of equipment, supplies, and medications to patients receiving home health care services. The role includes completing required paperwork and documentation, assisting with warehouse/pharmacy operations, and managing equipment and vehicle maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates competency and compliance with Option Care policy in the delivery and pick-up of medical equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Delivers products according to the patient schedule.
- Follows Option Care policy regarding bagging and segregation of dirty medical equipment.
- Maintains refrigerated/frozen products in a cooler until delivery.
- Follows safe driving practices and complies with all state and local traffic laws.
- Adheres to federal, state, and local regulations regarding safety and bloodborne pathogens.
- Communicates effectively with agency staff, patients, and family members.
- Obtains signatures from authorized individuals for deliveries and notes any unaccepted items.
- Communicates special instructions to patients or caregivers when requested.
- Prepares and submits documentation regarding discrepancies, complaints, or service requests.
- Maintains an accurate log of all deliveries made or attempted.
- Assists with or manages proper maintenance of company vehicles and maintains accurate records of completed and scheduled maintenance.
- Cleans coolers and dirty equipment.
- Assists with shipping products and accepts/document receipt of product per Option Care policy.
- Returns dirty equipment to the appropriate location.
- Accurately picks and packs supplies and equipment when requested.
- Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding patient confidentiality and proprietary Option Care information.
- Demonstrates current knowledge regarding proper delivery of products and setup of equipment.
- Participates in the driver on-call rotation.
- Accepts other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
- Experience communicating verbally and in writing to various audiences (e.g., work group, team, management, clients).
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers.
- Basic email and internet skills.
- Willing to travel at least 90% of the time for business purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience delivering health care products.
Pay
Salary to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Pay range is $16.33-$23.97 per hour.
