Driver

Responsibilities

• Surplus: Move surplus items to and from various facilities.
• Recycling: Pick up and empty recycling at all Union County properties three times a week.
• Shredding: Pick up and move boxes to shredding cage and assist the shredding vendor to dispose of material in boxes.
• General Upkeep: Deodorize drains, hose off boot scrapers, remove grates and vacuum entrance‑mat trays, check ash urns and refill sand as needed, run water in the sinks of all janitorial closets, clean ledges over the front entrance and high windows in the Main Library, and empty trash in the Garage building at the Patton Avenue complex.
• Set‑Up & Move Furniture: Move and set up furniture as requested.
• Police Grounds: Remove paper, bottles, cans, and all other trash and refuse from stairwells, parking lots, and exterior court areas; deposit items in the nearest waste/recycling container; blow leaves and debris from the vending area at the Government Center and from steps in the plaza near the outside vending machines each morning.
• Event Set‑Up: Pick up tables, chairs, podium, or sound equipment as requested and arrange as needed.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Prior driving or utility work experience preferred.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lb).
• Flexibility to travel across multiple sites.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and safety‑conscious.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Information

• Contractor must provide a minimum 14‑foot box truck with lift gate.
• Position requires a thorough criminal background check and drug screenings.
• The requirements and duties described may be modified or waived by management at its sole discretion without notice.

Pay

$17.00 – $19.00 per hour.

Schedule

Driver/Utility Worker: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
