Responsibilities
- Perform all pre-trip responsibilities, including checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries.
- Necessary vehicle safety inspections for the vehicle.
- Drive and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route.
- Ensure the vehicle is properly secured during drop-offs.
- Load and unload products from the vehicle using a dolly or other appropriate devices safely.
- Verify delivery of items with the customer and obtain proper signatures confirming receipt of the product.
- Contact management to discuss issues or concerns as they arise throughout the workday.
- Perform all post-delivery actions, including unloading damaged product, customer returns, and completing any necessary documents.
- Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations during the operation of the truck and handling of the product.
- Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and goodwill by providing professional assistance and by demonstrating an interest in the customer’s needs.
- Report any complaints to the supervisor.
- Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices.
- Ensure that payment (cash, checks, etc.) is properly secured.
- Ensure that safety training is current as per company policy.
- Supports the Fleet Manager by ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience – One to two years of commercial driving experience is a plus. Transportation of temperature-controlled product experience preferred.
- Customer Service – Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor.
- Work ethic – A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time-sensitive deadlines with the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Licensing - Must have a valid standard license.
- Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving.
- Regularly be able to lift up to 80 pounds; may occasionally need to lift over 80 pounds.
- Requires constant mental and visual attention, as well as the ability to see well in limited light scenarios.
- Repetitive reaching, bending, and twisting.
- Repetitive pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Medical Examiner’s Certification.
Qualifications
- Basic English speaking proficiency.
- A combination of the above will also be considered.
