Driver

About the role

Responsible for pickup and delivery of inbound and outbound freight to customer locations, using company vehicles at least 75% of the time. Operates tractor-trailers (>26,000 lbs Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) within a 250 air-mile radius, beginning and ending the workday at the same DSV facility.

Responsibilities

• Verify shipment-bills for required information and load freight onto trucks.
• Unload freight from trucks and weigh/check dimensions compared to shipper’s calculations.
• Perform and maintain daily safety checks on assigned vehicle.
• Perform and maintain daily security checks on freight being moved.
• Deliver and recover freight to/from customer locations using company vehicles.
• Maintain radio or telephone contact.
• Interact with warehouse/data center team members to maximize output and efficiency.
• Adapt to frequent change requests due to a fast-changing environment.
• Ensure proper documentation for any Hazardous Materials being moved.
• Inspect truck and trailer equipment to ensure road worthiness and notify supervisor of current or anticipated repairs.
• Use RF and/or Computer System for Trailer Inventory Control.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Possess a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat Endorsement.
• 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience (within the past 4 years).
• Meet all Federal and State standards of qualification for commercial drivers, including Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
• Meet and maintain physical qualifications for commercial fitness as set out in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, including hearing, vision, health, and body systems requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, decode, and decipher freight coding; conform with DMV and DOL driving requirements to operate hand trucks and forklifts; and perform tasks in inclement weather conditions.

Skills and Competencies

• Good interpersonal skills.
• Generally prefer 3–6 years of experience (this is an intermediate-level position).

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.

  • Up to 25% of time kneeling or crouching.
  • 25–75% of time reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and performing repetitive motions.
  • 25–75% of time grasping, talking, and hearing.

Pay

Expected base pay range is $30.50 – $30.50 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
