About the role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products. Responsibilities include performing bulk and packaged deliveries, executing proper loading and unloading procedures, completing required documentation, and ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Brenntag’s safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Daily operation and driving of a power unit (Class 8 tractors and lower) for chemical distribution.
  • Transport of HAZMAT and non-hazardous materials, including liquid and dry products.
  • Perform bulk deliveries of liquids and solid materials, including loading/unloading using pumps, air, etc.
  • Perform packaged deliveries of materials in drums, IBCs, palletized containers, or supersacks.
  • Manage transport, proper transfer and delivery of product, securement after completion, and execution of all applicable paperwork.
  • Operate tractors, trailers, or applicable service vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Comply with all applicable DOT, OSHA, and site-specific rules and regulations, including site and driver safety, packaging, labeling, marking, loading/unloading, placarding, pre-inspection, daily logs, and reporting repairs.
  • Follow all Brenntag operating procedures, work instructions, and safety policies and procedures while on a customer/vendor site.
  • Obtain certification to operate pallet jacks (electric or manual); obtain forklift certification if required by location.
  • Operate dock locks, dock levelers, and additional applicable equipment for delivery/pickup of material.
  • Properly care for all assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units; maintain good housekeeping and ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Maintain communication with supervisor and/or dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
  • Perform general warehouse duties and use applicable equipment as needed.
  • Read, comprehend, and conduct detailed and simple instructions in English; write simple correspondence.
  • Perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure.
  • Learn and operate technology-based devices such as smartphones, tablets, and transportation platforms (e.g., Samsara).
  • Operate power units that utilize advanced camera and safety systems (e.g., Samsara) for compliance purposes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
  • Meet all components of driver qualifications (DQ) for employment.
  • Possess a Class "A" CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat Endorsement (as required for role).
  • Hold a current DOT medical card.
  • If required for the position, be able to wear a respirator without facial hair that may interfere with a seal.
  • Possess a current TWIC card or show proof of application in process (if location requires).
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to pass E-Verify check.
  • Must reside local to area (within sixty miles); no lodging provided.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: minimum of 1 year liquid bulk hauling experience or a minimum of 3 years commercial truck driving experience.
  • Preferred: certification from an Accredited Commercial Driving Academy.

Physical Requirements

  • Must pass a pre-employment DOT fit-for-duty exam.
  • Ability to sit and drive for long hours.
  • Ability to step into and out of equipment safely.
  • Ability to stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment while performing loading/delivery tasks.
  • Lifting ability up to 75 pounds; frequently pushes, pulls, or moves up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to wear a respirator (if required) and all other personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to load and unload hazardous material.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
