About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including both liquid and dry products. Responsibilities
- Daily operation and driving of a power unit (Class 8 tractors and lower) for chemical distribution, transporting HAZMAT and non-hazardous materials (liquid and dry).
- Perform bulk and packaged deliveries, including:
- Bulk deliveries of liquids and solid materials, involving loading and offloading using pumps, air, or other equipment.
- Packaged deliveries of materials in drums, IBCs, palletized materials (dry or liquid), and supersacks (dry).
- Manage the entire delivery process, including transport, proper transfer of product, securement, and completion of all applicable paperwork.
- Operate tractors, trailers, or service vehicles safely and efficiently, complying with DOT, OSHA, and site-specific regulations (e.g., safety, packaging, labeling, placarding, pre-inspections, daily logs, and reporting repairs).
- Follow Brenntag operating procedures, work instructions, and safety policies, including those specific to customer/vendor sites.
- Operate pallet jacks (electric or manual), forklifts (if required), dock locks, dock levelers, and other delivery/pickup equipment.
- Maintain all assigned equipment, including ELDs, virtual gateways, camera systems, and tracking units, ensuring good working order and housekeeping.
- Remain in communication with supervisors/dispatchers to receive delivery instructions.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or US military experience. Candidates with prior chemical delivery experience may be considered if education/service requirements are not fully met.
- Must meet all driver qualifications (DQ) for employment.
- Possess a Class "A" CDL with Tanker, Bulk, and/or Hazmat Endorsement (as required).
- Current DOT medical card.
- If required to wear a respirator, must not have facial hair that interferes with its use.
- Current TWIC card or proof of application in process (if location requires).
- Ability to drive a manual transmission.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year liquid bulk hauling experience or 3 years commercial truck driving experience; certification from an Accredited Commercial Driving Academy.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
- Comfortable with general warehouse duties and applicable equipment.
- Detail-oriented, customer-focused, and organized.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions in English; basic math skills.
- Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, transportation platforms like Samsara).
- Willingness to operate power units with advanced camera and safety systems (e.g., Samsara).
- Must reside within sixty miles of the location; no lodging provided.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and E-verify check.
Physical Requirements
- Pass a pre-employment DOT fit-for-duty exam.
- Able to sit and drive for long hours.
- Able to safely step into and out of equipment.
- Able to stage, move, set up, operate, and break down equipment for loading/delivery tasks.
- Lifting ability up to 75 pounds; frequently push, pull, or move up to 150 pounds.
- Able to wear a respirator (if required) and other personal protective equipment.
- Able to load and unload hazardous materials.
- Able to climb a ladder.
