Position Summary

Essential Duties and Functions

• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and ensuring proper positioning.
• Maintain logs of working hours or vehicle service/repair status, adhering to applicable regulations.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.
• Inventory and inspect goods to be moved, determining quantities and conditions.
• Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting/disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes.
• Load and unload trucks, or assist in loading/unloading, using appropriate equipment.
• Wrap goods using pads, packing paper, and containers, securing loads to trailer walls with straps.
• Give directions to laborers involved in packing and moving goods onto trailers.

Technology Skills

Competent in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Minimum Qualifications

• Commercial Driver License
• 2+ years related work experience

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Physical demands: Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
• Environmental factors: Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, or chemicals.
• Travel: Frequent travel within local territory.
• Overtime/Shift Work: Significant overtime or shift work during peak business demands.
• Vision, Hearing, Speaking: Specific requirements with respect to these senses.
