Drilling Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

About the Role

Hunt Oil Company is seeking a Petroleum Engineer Intern for the Well Construction department located in the Dallas, TX office. This is a paid summer internship opportunity with housing provided if needed. The intern will work on multiple well construction projects associated with Hunt's operated Bakken (unconventional) assets.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare detailed reports on drilling activities, including daily progress, equipment performance, and any encountered issues.
• Participate in field visits to drilling sites to gain hands-on experience and understand the practical aspects of drilling operations.
• Learn and utilize industry-specific software for modeling and simulation of drilling operations.
• Work closely with other engineers and team members to ensure smooth and efficient drilling operations.
• Participate in the development of short- and long-term objectives and capital and expense budgets, ensuring compatibility with and support of overall company goals and objectives.
• Engineer, design, and technically support operational execution of new well drilling projects. In consultation with completion engineers, design and construct safe and efficient wells for completions, workovers, and stimulations.
• Assist in gathering and analyzing data from drilling operations to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.

Required Degree Background

• Rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree or master's in petroleum engineering
• Minimum of 3.0 grade point average

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Previous internship experience preferred
• Extracurricular activities are a plus
• Presentation and communication skills are a must
• Ability to communicate with field personnel and technical staff
