About the role
Operates drill machines for the manufacture of all types of fasteners.
Responsibilities
- Operates up to two drill machines to produce machined parts according to blueprints, specifications and/or special instructions.
- Starts and operates machine operation to detect out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls and machine as required.
- Operates machine on trial run to check accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Checks parts for conformance to specifications using micrometers, calipers and gauges and performs SPC.
- Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning or cutting action of tools. Major discrepancies are reported to supervisor.
- Identifies, disassembles, and determines corrective action required to repair work or broken parts.
- Checks tooling and reworks as needed to keep machine running.
- Lays out parts for successive and continuous machining operations.
- Troubleshoots cutters and fingers, including tooling necessary for setup and operation.
- Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards by following blueprints or work instructions.
- Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerance, number of parts to be checked.
- Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Able to read, comprehend, and execute directions from mechanical drawings.
- Able to measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
