Safety Requirements
- Wear safety glasses when cutting out a bad heddle/dropwire.
- Use hearing protection in designated areas.
- Shoes must cover entire foot, heel to toe.
- No jewelry, hair below shoulders must be pulled back and pinned up.
- Do not blow off clothes with an air hose.
Education/Experience Prerequisites
- Mandatory: High school graduate or equivalent. Basic math. Industrial truck license. Qualified Barber-Coleman helper, computer knowledge.
- PREFERRED: Weaving background, electronic background.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to work assigned schedule and shift with minimal absences.
- Must be able to tolerate non-toxic odors.
Machinery, Tools, & Equipment
- Barber-Coleman draw-in machine, reed hook, tape measure, scissors, calculator, tools such as pliers, wrenches, allen wrenches, screwdrivers, computer diskettes, printer, harness truck.
Materials Used
- Heddles, dropwires, steel harness ribs, oils, various deniers of synthetic yarn, etc.
Supervision Received
Immediate supervisor – works with minimum amount of supervision.
Direction Exercised
Directs machine helpers as to the amount and kind of material needed.
Working Procedures
- Checks machine for possible mechanical malfunctions.
- Lubricates machine regularly to help achieve optimum efficiency.
- Prepares warp to be drawn.
- Reads pattern chains and repairs stops as necessary. Cut new pattern chain if necessary.
- When pattern complete, checks for quality and assists in unloading machine.
- Performs P.M. on machines as required by P.M. program on head drives.
- Observes safety precautions as established by the department and participates in department safety program.
