Drainage & Street Technician

About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing building inspections, enforcing local building codes, and ensuring compliance with state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee building inspections to ensure compliance with local and state building codes.
• Enforce local building codes and state regulations related to construction and remodeling projects.
• Review and approve building plans and permits before construction begins.
• Respond to complaints and inquiries from the public regarding building code violations.
• Conduct inspections of completed construction projects to ensure they meet all applicable codes and standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to contractors and other stakeholders on building code requirements.
• Prepare reports and documentation related to building inspections and code enforcement activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection, construction management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of local and state building codes and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

While not required, candidates with experience in fire prevention, code enforcement, or related fields are preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex procedures.

$70,000 - $80,000 annually.
