Responsibilities
- Create and develop engineering designs and technical drawings using initial concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other reference materials.
- Build Building Information Models with specialized software to produce digital representations of structural and functional elements of buildings and other engineering projects.
- Use computer-assisted design (CAD) tools and drafting workstations.
- Use Navisworks tools.
- Produce design sketches and layout concepts.
- Prepare full documentation packages and complete sets of drawings.
- Review and validate drawings to ensure they meet specifications and design requirements.
- Write technical documentation and reports.
- Produce construction specifications, cost estimates, and material quantities.
- Oversee and train junior technologists, technicians, and drafting staff.
Qualifications
- Knowledge relating to the design of Insulation Systems, Joiner Bulkhead Systems, Sheathing, Ceiling Systems, Deck Covering Systems, Doors, Furniture, Galley Equipment, Gratings and Battens, and to a lesser extent, related plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and piping.
- Associate degree or technical school in mechanical drafting field.
- Five years’ experience in Shipbuilding is required.
- Extensive knowledge of the Naval Architecture designated engineering field.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to apply safety standards and adhere to industry regulations.
Pay
CAD $97,000.00 per year
Schedule
Full-time. 40 hours per week
