About the Role

The Design Drafter II is responsible for designing project-specific industrial water treatment systems, including heater, wastewater filtration, clean water filtration, and RO systems, ensuring customer specifications are met. Key responsibilities include preparing 3D models and assemblies, creating 2D drawings, BOMs, and laser cutting files, adding parts and assemblies to ERP systems, maintaining design revisions, and coordinating with project managers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Review customer specifications and project engineer instructions to prepare system layouts.
• Create 3D models and assemblies using available standards.
• Develop new ETO and standard designs.
• Prepare 2D drawings, BOMs, and laser cutting files.
• Add new parts and assemblies to ERP systems.
• Maintain design revisions using ECO-ECN processes via product lifecycle management and ERP systems.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers to establish essential functions and deadlines.
• Determine appropriate methods to create drawings using CAD templates or existing files.
• Review drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

• An associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology with 2-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Design experience, including sheet metal and weldment designs in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with 3D and 2D design software packages, such as Autodesk Inventor (preferred), SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) packages like Autodesk Vault (preferred), SolidWorks PDM, and Teamcenter.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP.

Qualifications

• Experience in the water treatment industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of design for six sigma (DFSS) and lean manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience developing standards using Autodesk Inventor iAssemblies is preferred.

Skills

• Proficiency with 3D and 2D design software packages.
• Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) packages.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
