Description of Duties
- Working from verbal or written instructions or rough sketches, make layout and preliminary "study" drawings, layout and detail engineering projects in the assigned discipline (electrical, mechanical, civil/structural, distribution) from designs developed by engineers or drafters of a higher classifications.
- Using the appropriate tools and equipment, including computer-assisted drafting equipment, develop and prepare neat, accurate and legible detailed engineering drawings of an elementary nature involving basic design work.
- Assist Drafters of a higher classification in developing and presenting design details to engineering personnel in an intelligible manner.
- Assist in obtaining field data needed for the development of design drawings.
- Avoid performing other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
Minimum Entry Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent, supplemented by successful completion of a high school vocational-technical curriculum in Drafting or two semesters of college drafting.
- Successful completion of the Basic Math Skills course which includes geometry and trigonometry.
- Alternative to these requirements is successful completion of the Written Entry Level Qualification Examination to demonstrate these skills.
- Ability to draw and letter neatly and efficiently as demonstrated by examples.
- General knowledge and experience in the use of various drafting instruments and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of a computer and computer assisted drafting equipment is desirable.
- Valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator's license.
- Ability to obtain/maintain SSES unescorted access (Nuclear only).
- Compliance with Fitness for Duty Regulations (Nuclear only).

- Performs work in accordance with safety rules established by the company and those set forth in the various applicable codes and regulations pertaining to the work performed.
- Line work, lettering and layout of drawings is of a quality to produce clean, clear, legible reproductions.
- Completes assignments as scheduled and within the estimated time.

- Understands and carries out instructions in an efficient manner.
- Completes work in a neat, orderly and efficient manner.
- Works with others in a cooperative manner.

- Succeeds in completing courses and training as required by the department to perform Drafter Level I duties.

- Obtain or assist in obtaining field data for development of design drawings; and in the calculations on design work of a moderately complex and technical nature.
- Using the appropriate tools and equipment, including computer-assisted drafting equipment, prepare for engineering projects of a moderately complex nature, complete design and detail drawings conforming to the company's standards and develop accompanying bills of material.
- Avoid performing other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
- Avoid assisting employees of other classifications, as assigned.
- Review the work of other drafters, as assigned.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned or as required.
Minimum Entry Requirements
- Satisfactory performance as a Drafter Level I.
- Minimum of two and one-half years experience as a Drafter Level I.
- Thorough proficiency in drawing and lettering.
- Ability to use drafting calculating and computer equipment, including the use of computer assisted drafting to create drawings.
- Thorough knowledge of company and manufacturer standards and specifications.
- Valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator's license.
