About the role

The Drafter is responsible for creating drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of machinery and mechanical devices.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for mechanical equipment and controls
• Create 3D models from old mylar prints
• Provide details on component descriptions
• Resolve design problems
• Make revisions/corrections to prints after machining to reflect actual inspection assembly of the tool
• Review and analyze specifications
• Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery
• Compute dimensions of materials and purchase accordingly
• Correct operating deficiencies
• Draft technical details
• Specify dimensions, materials, and procedures
• Draw in minute details of structures
• Design the parts of a machine
• Consult technical handbooks and tables while in drafting phase
• Use Computer Aided Design and Drafting systems to prepare drawings
• Create and store drawings electronically
• Program drawings into automated manufacturing systems
• Prepare variations of design
• Prepare engineering drawings that detail plans and specifications
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area
• Keep all walkways and aisle free of any debris or clutter
• Maintain 5S standards by returning tools to shadow boards
• Sweep floor and finishing area as needed
• Support with miscellaneous plant functions (i.e. plant layouts, automation projects, application engineering, etc.)
• Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

• Associates degree and/or 2-3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficient at using a Windows based PC, using email, working knowledge of Excel
• Knowledge of CAD Systems (Inventor) 3D Molding
• Ability to establish relationships with employees, peers and vendors
• Ability to multi-task
• Dependable
• Experience with Inventor Vault, Enovia/3DX is preferred but not required

Skills

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, such as blueprints, work orders, equipment operational manuals, and follow verbal instructions
• Ability to write reports, fill out work orders, and additional work needed forms
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Daily attendance is a requirement for the job, as is arriving on time. Overtime is expected when customer demand dictates the need.
