Drafter
About the role
The drafter will work with the Hamilton, NJ design team to create full manufacturing documentation packages for complex electromechanical assemblies. Responsibilities include generating documentation packages for electrical designs, interfacing with other departments, and managing sketches and drawings.
Responsibilities
- Create full manufacturing documentation packages for complex electromechanical assemblies.
- Generate documentation packages for electrical designs, ensuring they can be sent to manufacturing partners.
- Interface with other departments, manufacturing partners, and vendors to create realizable designs considering manufacturing capabilities.
- Create accurate AutoCAD drawings from hand sketches and verbal instructions.
- Generate engineering drawings for printed circuit board designs and assembly prints.
- Work with design engineers and sub-contractors to produce and alter drawings.
- Think creatively and critically to support the design process, creating sketches and drawings.
- Manage sketches and drawings on the CAD server according to an established structure.
- Exhaustively review and check sketches and drawings for errors before sending to the design team.
- Seek clarity and understanding from engineers when uncertain about provided instructions.
- Promote drafting as a core competency within the company.
Qualifications
- Formal drafting training, e.g., vocational high school with relevant trade, trade school, community college.
- Minimum 1-year experience in an AutoCAD Operator role.
- Outstanding fluency and skill within the AutoCAD program.
- Prior experience with SolidWorks 3D design and 2D drafting desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledgeable in drafting standards and best practices.
- Incredible attention to detail with a focus on impeccable quality.
- Basic understanding of electronic circuits.
- Prior experience with semiconductor mask design is a plus.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Effective communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build long-lasting partnerships.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Pay
The Salary Range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
