Drafter

About the role

Reporting to the Drafting Supervisor, the Drafter follows verbal and written instructions as given. Through the use of CAD, the Drafter provides shop drawings for customers and production as per specifications. May refer to prints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare shop drawings and fabrication instructions according to construction drawings & specifications, implementing C/S standards whenever possible to be most cost effective
• Prepare layout of approved jobs for fabrication, consisting of sketches, cutting lists & packing lists
• Communicate with Sales department on complex jobs to ensure that work required by project is included for in contract price
• Confer with customers for additional details and specifications
• Consistently follow schedules, meeting deadlines and delivery goals
• Use innovative/creative methods to produce final product
• Coordinate project details with the customer
• Share/transfer knowledge of product lines with other team members
• Communicate with the Engineering department to prioritize jobs and tasks, meeting the needs of external and internal customers

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of Architectural experience
• Graduate in Architectural Technology
• Ability to work with Architectural, Mechanical, and Structural drawings
• Excellent abilities using AutoCAD 2025, MS Word & Excel
• Knowledge of construction & fabrication methods
• Advanced math skills – Ability to work in both metric and imperial
• Strong communication skills – written & verbal
• Strong technical skills with a meticulous attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal & organizational skills, able to multi-task and prioritize work while working independently when necessary
• Inventor proficiency required
