Overview
Schedule: Part-time night shift (2 12-hour shifts per week)
Hours: 7:00pm – 7:00am, weekdays
About the role
Guides pregnant person/family through the birthing process to provide emotional, physical and informational support. Works with the family at the hospital during the labor & birth process and postpartum. Administers care to designated patients and provides support to the care team under the direction of the clinical nurse. Serves as a liaison between clinical, medical staff and underserved patients and/or families. Assures care of patients and families is reflective of IU Health's values.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required
- 0–3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge and cultural understanding of target communities
- High level of oral and written fluency in English and target languages
- May provide support to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients, families, and medical staff providing care
- May require Medical Interpreter Certification when applicable
Qualifications
- Preferred Birth Doula Certification from accredited organizations
- DONA (Doula Organization of North America) certification required within 24 months of hire date, with IU Health assistance
- Preferred CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) certification or completion of certification within 12 months of hire date
