Job Summary
Ensures Compliance and Customer Service
This role ensures total operation compliance with state and federal regulations, maintains high customer service, and ensures a clean, professional work environment.
Maintains Donor Conditions and Confidentiality
- Maintain donor comfort and safety
- Maintain donor confidentiality
- Monitor donor conditions
- Maintain cleanliness of work area
- Maintain equipment based on SOPs
- Perform QCs on equipment
- Clean spills and dispose of biohazardous waste
- Determine donor eligibility
- Perform donor vitals evaluation
- Perform finger stick for Microhematocrit and Total Protein determination
- Register donors
- Set-up and prepare equipment and supplies
- Disconnect donors after plasmapheresis
- Maintain proper ratios
- Operate automated plasmapheresis machines
- Respond to donor adverse events
- Document exceptions
- Handle and store plasma product and samples
- Prepare samples and products for shipment
- Monitor and record freezer and refrigerator temperatures
- Perform other job-related tasks
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Three (3) months’ experience in clerical or customer service position preferred
- Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements
- Basic computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English required
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific)
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals
- Ability to understand verbal instruction
- Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis
- Attendance and punctuality required
Physical Requirements
- Utilize all required and appropriate PPE
- Sit or stand for extended periods
- Tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds
- Bend, stoop, or kneel
- Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
- View video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods
- Work in an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder
- Perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills
- Use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication
- Travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle
