Job Summary

Ensures Compliance and Customer Service

This role ensures total operation compliance with state and federal regulations, maintains high customer service, and ensures a clean, professional work environment.

Maintains Donor Conditions and Confidentiality

• Maintain donor comfort and safety
• Maintain donor confidentiality
• Monitor donor conditions
• Maintain cleanliness of work area
• Maintain equipment based on SOPs
• Perform QCs on equipment
• Clean spills and dispose of biohazardous waste
• Determine donor eligibility
• Perform donor vitals evaluation
• Perform finger stick for Microhematocrit and Total Protein determination
• Register donors
• Set-up and prepare equipment and supplies
• Disconnect donors after plasmapheresis
• Maintain proper ratios
• Operate automated plasmapheresis machines
• Respond to donor adverse events
• Document exceptions
• Handle and store plasma product and samples
• Prepare samples and products for shipment
• Monitor and record freezer and refrigerator temperatures
• Perform other job-related tasks

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Three (3) months’ experience in clerical or customer service position preferred
• Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements
• Basic computer knowledge and skills
• Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English required
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific)
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals
• Ability to understand verbal instruction
• Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis
• Attendance and punctuality required

Physical Requirements

• Utilize all required and appropriate PPE
• Sit or stand for extended periods
• Tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five (35) pounds
• Bend, stoop, or kneel
• Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens
• View video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods
• Work in an environment with a temperature of -40C or colder
• Perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills
• Use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication
• Travel up to 20% via airplane and vehicle
