Donation Services Associate - Grand Junction Store and Clifton Donation Center

Pay: $16.65 per hour.

Availability to work evenings and weekends is preferred. This position may be located at our Grand Junction Store or Clifton Donation Center.

About the role

The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand-alone donation centers (ADC). This role provides excellent and friendly customer service by greeting customers promptly and assisting with donations, which may include lifting or unloading items from a customer’s vehicle.

Donation hours at stores are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Donation hours at donation centers are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. This position works outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers in a timely manner and answering product questions as needed.
  • Assist customers by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
  • Handle donated items with care and sort them into appropriate bins or production areas.
  • Inspect all donations and make decisions on quality to sort appropriately for the sales floor or shipment to other locations.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment for customers and employees within the donations entrance and parking lot areas.
  • Maintain remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailers, following opening and closing procedures when working at a remote site. Ensure supplies are well-stocked.
  • Track and report donation levels daily to prevent trailers from becoming overstocked when working in remote donation center locations.
  • Communicate promptly when donation warehouses or trailers are full and a truck is needed.
  • Follow all retail center and donation center policies and procedures.
  • Assist drivers in loading and unloading donations onto trucks when necessary.
  • Follow all safety processes and procedures to provide a safe working environment.
  • Cross-train in other departments or areas and act as a backup when required.
  • May be required to report to the store ADC or stand-alone center as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One year of retail experience is preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
  • Basic computer skills to log into systems, order supplies, and send/receive email.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
  • Ability to use safety equipment such as a dolly or pallet jack to assist with lifting heavy objects.
  • Ability to obtain Powered Equipment Operator certification to safely operate equipment, including hydraulic balers and forklifts.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime as necessary.
