Donation Services Associate - Golden Store and Evergreen Donation Center

Pay: $16.65 per hour. Availability to work evenings and weekends is preferred. This position may work at our Golden Store or Evergreen Donation Center.

About the role

The Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers dropping off items at retail centers and/or stand-alone donation centers. This role provides excellent and friendly customer service by greeting customers promptly and assisting with donations, which may include lifting or unloading items from vehicles. Associates handle donated goods with care and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers in a timely manner and answering product questions as needed.
• Assist customers by unloading donations from vehicles or other areas.
• Handle donated items with care and sort them into appropriate bins or production areas.
• Inspect all donations and make decisions on quality to sort for the sales floor or shipment to other locations.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean environment for customers and employees in donation entrance and parking lot areas.
• Maintain remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailers, following opening and closing procedures when applicable.
• Ensure supplies are well-stocked at remote sites.
• Track and report donation levels daily to prevent overstocking of trailers.
• Communicate promptly when donation warehouses or trailers are full and a truck is needed.
• Follow all retail center and donation center policies and procedures.
• Assist drivers in loading and unloading donations onto trucks when necessary.
• Follow all safety processes and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Cross-train in other departments or areas and act as a backup when required.
• Report to the store, ADC, or stand-alone center as necessary.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• One year of retail experience is preferred.
• Ability to make decisions following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
• Basic computer skills to log into systems, order supplies, and send/receive emails.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
• Ability to use safety equipment such as dollies or pallet jacks to assist with lifting heavy objects.
• Ability to obtain Powered Equipment Operator certification to safely operate equipment, including hydraulic balers and forklifts.
• Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
• Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, with occasional overtime.

Schedule

• Donation hours at stores: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM; Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Donation hours at donation centers: Daily, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
