About the role
The Donation Program Coordinator at the University of Utah's Transplant Center DonorConnect is responsible for increasing organ and tissue donation by fostering relationships with hospital staff and coordinating educational activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with hospital partners
- Coordinate and execute general educational activities
- Maintain and facilitate the strategic plan for donation performance improvements
- Sustain implementation of donation best practices within the designated hospital(s)
- Ongoing assessment of hospital performance data to build a knowledge base of donor potential
- Assist with clinical evaluation of potential donor patients
- Collaborate with hospital staff to preserve donation options
- Presentation of donation options to legal next-of-kin/family
- Carry out donation follow-up, process variance resolution, and real-time activities and education
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred in science, marketing, sales, education, or public relations
- Licensed RN, Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic/EMT, or 2 years prior experience working at an OPO in Clinical, Family Services, or Hospital Services roles
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a critical care environment (ICU / ER) or equivalent OPO experience

- Excellent public relations and interpersonal abilities, including conflict resolution
- Public speaking abilities

- Able to work well with all levels of personnel in hospital settings
- Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail
- Able to handle highly stressful situations in a calm and mature manner

- Knowledge of the organ and tissue transplant fields
