Domestic Support Worker

Fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027.

Schedule

• 2 hours per week
• Saturday & Sunday, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm (exact times can be flexible by agreement)

Pay

• Band 2 – Salary range £26,696 to £28,988 pro-rata per annum
• Plus Distant Island Allowance of £2,578 pro-rata per annum
• Enhanced rates for weekend, unsocial hours, and overnight work

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join the team of domestics within NHS Shetland’s Domestic Services Department. The work you do will be essential to the safe running of the Health Service in Shetland; you will be a valued member of the team and may have the opportunity to develop skills in other areas of the facilities team if you wish, such as laundry or catering.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning clinics, treatment rooms, and reception areas
• Hoovering and mopping floors
• Cleaning toilets and public areas
• Emptying waste bins
• General cleaning duties

Requirements

• Flexible, committed, and positive attitude
• Good level of basic education
• Good communication skills
• Full UK driving licence (desirable)
• Ability to follow instructions for initial training and induction
• Compliance with the Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of starting
