About the role
We are seeking innovative Hardware Engineers with expertise in system deconstruction and design analysis to join our mission at Redstone Arsenal.
Responsibilities
- Conducts research, design, development, and testing of electrical or mechanical hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, mechanical and electrical components.
- Ensures reliability, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications.
- Designs new or modifies existing products.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary experts to transform insights into actionable design improvements.
- Contributes to national defense initiatives by ensuring reliability, security, and innovation in mission-critical systems.
- Pushes the boundaries of technology in a dynamic environment where curiosity and technical mastery are valued.
Requirements
- Position performed on-site at our Redstone Arsenal location
- US Citizen Required
- Top Secret/SCI (eligible) current and active at the time of application
Qualifications
- Hardware Engineer II: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
- Hardware Engineer III: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Hardware Engineer IV: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- Hardware Engineer V: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 10 years relevant experience with PhD in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
- Hands-on experience with hardware analysis and system evaluation (e.g., teardown, diagnostics, performance testing).
- Proficiency with PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, or equivalent).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills at the component and system level.
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements (MIL-STD, IEEE, etc.).
Nice to have
- Background in FPGA/ASIC design and verification.
- Familiarity with hardware forensics, teardown, and system diagnostics.
- Prior work with government contracts or defense industry projects.
