About the Role

The Documentation and Loan Specialist (DLS) II is responsible for reviewing commercial loans to ensure all document and perfection requirements are met and the bank’s position and security interest are satisfied according to Bank policy and procedures. This role handles a wide variety of loan and line products, from simple to complex transactions, and perfects collateral documents. Under minimal supervision, the DLS II processes new relationship setups, modifications, and renewals while meeting completeness, turnaround time, and accuracy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews loan approvals for compliance with bank policy and risk mitigation (35%).
  • Performs pre-closing searches to ensure the Bank’s collateral position and validity of borrower name.
  • Ensures compliance with US Patriot Act, Regulation B, and Flood pre-closing requirements.
  • Reviews attorney-prepared loan documents for conformity with loan approval and commitment letters; coordinates changes prior to closing (35%).
  • Acts as primary liaison with bank counsel and Commercial Relationship Managers.
  • Assists in loan closings, supports funding, and manages fees before and during closing.
  • Reviews post-closing loan documents for completeness, identifies exceptions, and books loans in the FIS system.
  • Images loan documents in IS View and sends them to safekeeping.
  • Enters loan exceptions, policy exceptions, financial covenants, and financial statement requirements in Baker Hill for tracking.
  • Provides follow-up reporting of loan exceptions, reconciles Accounts Receivable for pre-closing expenses, and completes compliance tests in the Archer system (10%).
  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, regulations, and prescribed policies to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • 2+ years of commercial loan documentation experience preferred.

Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the Internet.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.

Pay

Salary Range: $21.55 – $36.63 per hour. Actual compensation within the range will be determined based on skills, relevant experience, and work location.

Location

Springfield, MA or Hartford, CT.
