Documentation & Coding Consultant
About the Role
As our Documentation & Coding Consultant, you will design, implement, and manage ongoing organizational monitoring activities and educational programs to ensure proper reimbursement and compliance with all regulatory statutes. In this consulting capacity, you will identify compliance issues, analyze practice patterns, verify charges, ensure optimal reimbursement for the organization, and interpret regulatory changes. You will implement necessary changes, modify policies, and convey these updates to clinical departments. Additionally, you will educate staff on compliance requirements and coding guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage organizational monitoring activities and educational programs.
- Identify compliance issues and analyze practice patterns in a consulting capacity.
- Verify charges and ensure optimal reimbursement for the organization.
- Interpret regulatory changes and implement necessary policy modifications.
- Convey changes to clinical departments and educate staff on compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate a strong command of coding guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Credentialed as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P).
- One (1) year of CPT and diagnosis coding experience in a healthcare provider or a third-party payer.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interact tactfully yet assertively with physicians and other professional staff.
- Strong presentation skills, comfortable in settings ranging from one-on-one communications to large groups.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and diagnosis coding experience in a healthcare provider or a third-party payer.
- Three (3) years of experience as an instructor/trainer.
- Clinical knowledge and exposure to risk adjustment coding.

Pay
$33.85 - $55.86 / hour
