About the role
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) seeks a Medical Billing Coding Auditor to join our dynamic team. As a key member of the billing and coding department, you will be responsible for performing medical billing coding and documentation quality audits, providing feedback to coding and reimbursement specialists, coders, and educating them.
Responsibilities
- Performs medical billing coding and documentation quality audits
- Provides feedback to coding and reimbursement specialists, coders, and educates them
- Affixes administrative activities as necessary
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing
- Collaborates with all individuals
- Manages complex and sensitive issues with professionalism and self-starter attitude
- Manages time effectively and pays close attention to detail
- Passes a criminal background check and is not listed on relevant exclusion lists
Requirements
- Current and active professional medical billing coding certification from an accredited organization
- Five or more years of health care items/services experience
- Experience in a multi-specialty group practice and/or academic practice setting is preferred
- Managerial/supervisory and program management implementation experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-CM, ICD-10, and HCPCS nomenclature
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalency
- Five (5) years of medical billing coding and reimbursement experience, with one (1) year as a coding auditor
- Active professional coding certification from an accredited organization
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-CM, ICD-10, and HCPCS nomenclature

Pay
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https://app4.ttuhsc.edu/payplan.

Up to 25% travel may be required.
