About the role
This opportunity is with one of the largest containerboard and kraft paper manufacturers in the country. The Roanoke Rapids mill has been producing paper products for over a century and remains a major local employer with several hundred people on site. You would be joining the engineering department at a facility that continues to invest in capital projects and equipment upgrades, keeping its drawing and documentation systems accurate as the plant evolves.
Responsibilities
- Maintain engineering documents and drawings across electronic and paper formats
- Track mill equipment numbers, drawing numbers, and document control records
- Uphold drawing documentation standards for accuracy and consistency
- Support the engineering manager and other department leaders with documentation needs
- Enter and update spare parts information in Integrity
- Maintain equipment records including operating manuals and maintenance lists
- Cover drawing requests from engineers, operations, maintenance, and contractors
- Create and revise drawings in AutoCAD
- Prepare plan layouts to support improvement projects and modifications
- Support documentation for capital projects and maintain the drawing room, including plotter and copier equipment
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Three or more years of related manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficiency with CAD software
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple documents and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning new software systems
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred)
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Inventor or SolidWorks (preferred)
- Prior experience in a paper, pulp, or heavy manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Familiarity with JDE or similar ERP systems (preferred)
Qualifications
