About the role

To perform this job, a forklift driver must be familiar with the forklift's controls and capabilities. They should have strong attention to detail, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and possess good communication skills. Physical strength and stamina may be required, as the job involves lifting and moving heavy materials and goods.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the forklift before use to ensure it is in proper working condition.
• Load and unload materials and goods onto and off trucks, trailers, or storage areas using the forklift.
• Maintain inventory records and report any discrepancies to management.
• Operate the forklift in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
• Report any forklift malfunctions or maintenance needs to management.
• Assist with other warehouse tasks as needed.

Requirements

• At least 3 months of forklift experience and/or using warehouse distribution equipment.
• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to successfully pass internal Forklift Certification Training and demonstrate safety procedures.
• Able to perform job tasks in sometimes dusty, hot, and/or cold working conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to speak or hear.
• Frequently stand on their feet.
• Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 65 lbs with team lifting or provided equipment.
• Capability to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and the whole body, including bending, crouching, climbing (using steps and ladders), pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.
