About the role
Strategic Legal Practices offers opportunities for attorneys to litigate cases, appear in hearings, and try cases. The position includes a structured trial bonus.
Responsibilities
- Manage the calendaring and tracking of litigation deadlines across various court jurisdictions
- Review and analyze incoming legal documents to identify and compute applicable deadlines
- Prepare and distribute reports on upcoming critical dates for attorneys and support staff
- Maintain and update docketing systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with court rules
- Aid in the preparation of legal documents and correspondence as needed
- Communicate proactively with attorneys regarding critical deadlines and any necessary follow-up
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing case files
- Monitor court dockets, filings, and case activity across all assigned matters; proactively calendar and track all court deadlines, hearings, and procedural requirements to ensure no deadlines are missed
- Conduct ongoing internal audits of all assigned cases to ensure attorneys and law clerks complete assigned tasks, filings, and service requirements on time; proactively follow up on outstanding assignments and escalate any delays or risks to management
Requirements
- 3-5 years of litigation docketing or legal calendaring experience in a law firm setting
- Strong knowledge of both state and federal court rules, deadlines, and procedures
- Proficiency with PACER and online court databases
- Experience with legal calendar and docketing software (e.g., CompuLaw, Aderant, or similar)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems
- Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of personal accountability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with partners, attorneys, and legal assistants
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and prioritize effectively under pressure
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
